Gianluca Migliarotti

Gianluca Migliarotti was born in Naples in 1974.
 In 1999, he moved to New York where he studied directing at NYU Film School and acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute.
He went back to Italy - in Milan - where he founded Kid Dandy, a production company, and shot several documentaries, short movies and commercial for clients like Pinko, Cantine Banfi, MBC, Global Fashion News, Christofle, Starwood, Discovery Channel, Fiat, Vitale Barberis Canonico. He collaborated with The Family Film, directing the corporate movie SPGtv of Starwood group. In 2007, he shot Barbiere, a documentary written by Luchino Visconti di Modrone, broadcasted by Sky Classica. In 2010 he created the documentary Lino Sabattini, for which he won the Asolo Award for best movie on design at the 29th Asolo Art Film Festival.
 With O’Mast (2011) he approaches the world of high level tailoring, documenting a topic that he always loved with expertise. In July 2013, the I colori di Antonio, a documentary about Antonio Liverano, a tailor based in Florence, was co-produced with The Armoury Hong Kong, and premiered in Hong Kong.
 His latest film is on Aldo and Edda Lorenzi, owner of the famous G.Lorenzi shop of Via Montenapoleone, specialized in knives maker based in Milan, entitled A Knife Life. He has been working on several branded film for companies as Vitale Barberis Canonico(textile), Emilio Pucci(fashion), and recently for Isaia(menswear) for whom he has produced a real fiction with the title “Tailormade Crime”. His last work as director and producer is Driving Dreams, a documentary about Italian car designer of ’60 and ’70. He is working on the screenplay of his first feature film.
